Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing apilens.rest or installing the auto-api-observe npm package, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

APILens provides API monitoring infrastructure consisting of:

  • ·The auto-api-observe npm package (MIT-licensed, open source)
  • ·The cloud ingest API that receives telemetry from your application
  • ·The dashboard at apilens.rest for visualizing metrics
  • ·Email alert delivery

3. Beta status

APILens is currently in public beta. All features are free during beta. This means the service may change, have downtime, or be discontinued. We will provide reasonable notice before any major changes that affect stored data.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and API key. Do not share your API key. If you believe your key has been compromised, rotate it immediately from Dashboard → Settings.

You must provide accurate information when registering. One account per person or organization.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • ·Use the service to instrument applications that violate any laws
  • ·Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the ingest API
  • ·Send artificially inflated request volumes to exceed plan limits
  • ·Use the service to collect, store, or transmit personal data of others without proper authorization (note: the middleware does not capture request bodies by default)
  • ·Resell or white-label the service without written permission

6. npm package license

The auto-api-observe npm package is MIT-licensed. You can use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of it freely. The MIT license terms are included in the package and on GitHub.

Note: the MIT license covers the npm package only. The cloud API, dashboard, and apilens.rest website are proprietary and not open source.

7. Quota and fair use

The free beta plan includes a generous request quota. If your application consistently exceeds the quota, we will contact you before taking any action. We will not silently drop your data without notice.

8. Data and privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Uptime and reliability

We aim for high availability but do not offer an SLA during beta. If the ingest endpoint is unreachable, the middleware silently drops metrics rather than crashing your application. Your API will continue to function regardless of APILens availability.

10. Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. In no event shall APILens or Rahul Patel be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from Dashboard → Settings or by emailing us. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
